Metro Ice nabbed the lead late in the game in a 9-3 victory over Marlins on Tuesday. The game was tied at three with Warren Metro Ice batting in the top of the fifth when J Durda induced Nick Capogreco to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
The Marlins opened up an early lead in the second inning when Mo Kokuvich singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
Metro Ice evened things up at three in the top of the fourth inning. Hosey’s sac fly scored the typing run for Metro Ice.
Metro Ice tallied three runs in the seventh inning. Metro Ice’s offense in the inning was sparked by a by Capogreco RBI single.
Jake Foster got the win for Metro Ice. He pitched all seven innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out six.
Durda took the loss for Marlins. He allowed seven hits and nine runs over seven innings, striking out three.
Metro Ice racked up seven hits in the game. Capogreco and Chris Descalzi each collected multiple hits for Warren Metro Ice.
Kokuvich led Marlins with two hits in four at bats.
