Nick Charnas didn’t allow a single run as Metro Ice defeated the Marlins 8-0 on Tuesday. Charnas allowed just three hits and was aided by good defense all evening, including a 9-6-3 triple play in the 5th inning with the Ice holding onto a 2-0 lead.
An early lead helped propel Metro Ice to victory. Metro Ice took the lead on a Larry Goist single in the first inning.
Metro Ice scored four runs in the sixth inning. Metro Ice’s big inning was driven by singles by DJ Morvay and Mark Herron, a bases loaded walk by Joe Micco, and a sacrifice fly by Derek Morrison.
Fitzgerald, Ustazewski, Lesnansky, and Acivido all singled for the Marlins.
Nick Charnas earned the win for Warren Metro Ice. He pitched seven innings, allowing zero runs, four hits, and striking out eight. Lang took the loss for Marlins. He tossed six innings, surrendering eight runs, six hits, and striking out four.
Blaine Lang went the distance for the Marlins. He allowed eight runs (three earned), giving up seven hits, striking out four, and walking six.
