Metro Ice defeated the Colebrook Elevator Marlins by a score of 7-3 to take a 2-0 lead in the League Championship Series.
JT Taylor pitched 6 1/3 innings, picking up the win. Taylor got into trouble in the 6th, but Ice newcomer AJ Armstrong was able to escape the jam by inducing a double play. Armstrong worked the 8th innning as well, and last nights winner, Jake Foster, closed out the 9th.
The Ice offense was lead by leadoff hitter Derek Armstrong, who went 4 for 5 with a double and 4 RBI, Ryan Trimbur who went 3 for 4, and Nick Charnas who went 2 for 4.
Tom Popadak pitched a complete game for the Marlins, striking out 7 in the loss. Popadak wasn’t helped by 7 miscues by the Marlins defense.
Bobby Duley went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, and Popadak went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles lead the Marlins offense.
Game 3 is scheduled to take place Wednesday evening, 7 PM at Packard Park.
